Americans Need Stronger Protections During COVID-19 Crisis

With consumers across the country struggling to manage their finances, the SBPC, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group (U.S. PIRG), and Consumer Action have released recommendations for how the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) can enhance its consumer complaint tool to protect borrowers during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 

The issue brief outlines key steps the CFPB can take to expand and enhance its complaint tool, including the agency’s public complaint database. While these changes are urgently needed to support consumers during the pandemic, they would also serve the added benefit of providing long-term protections and support for consumers.
