Help Us Stop Betsy DeVos’ Illegal Wage Garnishments

If you have had your wages garnished to repay a federal student loan, we want to hear from you.  We know that borrowers across the country have had their wages illegally seized by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. That’s why we have partnered with Student Defense and National Consumer Law Center to bring a new class action lawsuit against the Trump Administration. 

Our lawsuit seeks to end unlawful wage garnishment for hundreds of thousands of borrowers and to return the money illegally seized from these borrowers’ paychecks.

Mike Pierce is the Policy Director and Managing Counsel at the Student Borrower Protection Center. He is an attorney, advocate, and former senior regulator who joined SBPC after more than a decade fighting for student loan borrowers’ rights on Capitol Hill and at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Tamara Cesaretti is a Counsel at the Student Borrower Protection Center. Prior to joining SBPC, Tamara was a civil rights policy advocate for both educational opportunities and economic justice at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
