Letter from the Student Borrower Protection Center to the Department of Education Regarding Its Intent to Establish Negotiated Rulemaking Committee

In a letter, the Student Borrower Protection Center (SBPC) responds to the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking indicating its desired topics for consideration during its upcoming negotiated rulemaking process. SBPC applauds ED for recognizing the need to revise student protections in certain areas, and it offers suggestions for additional topics that merit inclusion in the rulemaking process. In addition, SBPC provides preliminary commentary on the nature of the changes that ED and the rulemaking committee(s) should pursue via rulemaking to certain topics in the final agenda.
