This report details the SBPC and the American Federation of Teacher’s joint investigation into allegations of rampant mismanagement and industry abuses undermining the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
This initiative is the first comprehensive effort to obtain documents, communications, data, and records from the government agencies and student loan companies responsible. Through two dozen individual information requests made by the AFT and SBPC under federal and state “sunshine” and FOIA laws to more than a half-dozen different organizations, the probe attempts to expose the role several private companies and federal agencies may have in perpetuating the student debt crisis in America.
