Student Borrower Protection Center and Dēmos hosted a virtual conference on student debt cancellation. The event featured leading advocates, academics, and policymakers discussing how a future administration committed to supporting student loan borrowers can provide substantial, immediate debt relief for millions using existing authorities under the Higher Education Act. Participants explored how to deliver promised relief to servicemembers, public servants, defrauded borrowers, and other vulnerable groups, as well as broad-based debt cancellation to support the nation’s economic recovery and end the student debt crisis for Black and brown borrowers.

The virtual conference featured speakers from organizations including Americans for Financial Reform, the Harvard Project on Predatory Lending, the National Consumer Law Center, Student Borrower Protection Center, and Veterans Education Success.
